SOUND ART
Sixteen Chimes This sound art installation features 16 chime bars, controlled electronically by a custom-made circuit. By placing the chimes in different parts of a gallery or public space, the installation emphasizes the spatial nature of sound, and its interplay with distinct acoustic spaces. The generative aspect of the piece is determined by the irregular beats that each chime makes, repeating every 1 to 25 seconds, which can be modified by people in the audience via a knob placed in each station. The result is an ever-changing composition that is affected by the audience's interaction with the piece. MULTIMEDIA

In Between
Commuting through industrial urban spaces in Vancouver and Sao Paulo, the artist examines the notion of existing simultaneously—physically or mentally—in different places and cultures. The intersection of two familiar landscapes, through unidealized images of his current and former home provokes a reflection far-removed from nostalgia.
In Between has been selected for the 2020-2021 programming of the Mount Pleasant Community Art Screen, with the theme PLACES.

Playback Head
Assembled from footage collected over a period of fifty years, Playback Head is an audiovisual journey that considers the transience of time, the bonds of family, and the experience of (im)migration. It combines images shot in Brazil, Canada and other countries in Europe and South America, on various analogue and digital media, with a collage of evocative soundscapes and experimental music that allude to the associative nature of memory. A synesthetic depiction of past events–recollections of childhood, travelling, and different homes–Playback Head is a multimedia project comprised of a three-part short film, and a multichannel audio/video installation.
